Microsoft Exchange Engineer (Microsoft Places Engineer)

Our client is seeking a Microsoft Exchange Engineer (Microsoft Places Engineer) for a contract scenario. The Microsoft Places Engineer supports the implementation, administration, and ongoing operation of Microsoft Places and related Microsoft 365 workplace technologies. This role is responsible for configuring workplace resources, maintaining location hierarchies, supporting room and desk booking solutions, troubleshooting issues, and assisting with automation and reporting activities.

The engineer works closely with Microsoft 365 administrators, workplace technology teams, facilities teams, and business stakeholders to support a reliable and accurate workplace experience. Pay Rate:
Up to $42.50 - $45.00 per hour

Primary Responsibilities:

• Administer Microsoft Places buildings, floors, rooms, work spaces, desk pools, and individual desks.
• Maintain location metadata, maps, tags, labels, and workplace attributes.
• Support onboarding of new buildings, rooms, and workplace resources into Microsoft Places.
• Administer Exchange Online resource mailboxes, room mailboxes, workspace mailboxes, booking policies, and scheduling settings.
• Support Microsoft Places integration with Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Teams Rooms, and Exchange Online.
• Troubleshoot booking, scheduling, and workplace experience issues.
• Perform data validation, inventory reviews, and configuration audits.
• Develop and maintain Power Shell scripts for reporting, automation, and bulk updates.
• Support testing, pilot activities, and production deployments of new Places features.
• Create operational documentation, procedures, and knowledge articles.
• Monitor service health and assist with incident and problem resolution.

Required Technical

Skills:

• Degree in Computer Science
• 1+ years of overall IT experience as a Microsoft Exchange Engineer
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to be onsite fulltime in Pleasanton or Corona, CA

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience supporting Microsoft 365 environments.
• Experience administering Exchange Online resource mailboxes.
• Experience with Microsoft Teams and Teams Rooms.
• Experience with Power Shell scripting and automation.
• Knowledge of workplace technologies, facilities systems, or space management platforms.
• Microsoft 365 or Teams Administrator certifications preferred.
