Our client is seeking a Senior Microsoft Exchange/365 Engineer
Position Summary
The Microsoft Engineer supports the implementation, administration, and operation of Microsoft Places and related Microsoft 365 workplace technologies. This role is responsible for configuring workplace resources, maintaining location hierarchies, supporting room and desk booking solutions, troubleshooting issues, and assisting with automation and reporting activities. The engineer works closely with Microsoft 365 administrators, workplace technology teams, facilities teams, and business stakeholders to support a reliable and accurate workplace experience.
Primary Responsibilities
- Administer Microsoft Places buildings, floors, rooms, work spaces, desk pools, and individual desks.
- Maintain location metadata, maps, tags, labels, and workplace attributes.
- Support onboarding of new buildings, rooms, and workplace resources.
- Administer Exchange Online room and workspace mailboxes.
- Configure booking policies, scheduling settings, and resource calendars.
- Support Microsoft Places integration with Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Exchange Online, and Teams Rooms.
- Troubleshoot booking, scheduling, and workplace experience issues.
- Perform data validation, inventory reviews, and configuration audits.
- Develop and maintain Power Shell scripts for automation, reporting, and bulk updates.
- Support testing, pilot activities, and production deployments.
- Create operational documentation and support procedures.
Typical Engineering Activities
The Microsoft Engineer regularly performs activities such as:
- Creating and configuring room mailboxes and workspace mailboxes in Exchange Online.
- Building and maintaining Places hierarchies including buildings, floors, sections, rooms, work spaces, and desks.
- Uploading and updating room photos for conference rooms and workplace resources through Microsoft Entra Microsoft 365 administration tools.
- Associating monitor serial numbers, asset tags, and room hardware information with desks and meeting spaces.
- Validating parent-child relationships between buildings, floors, rooms, work spaces, and desks.
- Supporting migration from Room Finder to Places Finder experiences.
- Managing Places tags, labels, amenities, and workplace attributes.
- Creating and maintaining floor maps and workplace location data.
- Bulk importing and updating Places data using Power Shell and Microsoft Graph.
- Auditing room, desk, and workspace configurations for accuracy.
- Performing inventory reconciliation between Exchange, Teams Rooms, Places, and facilities databases.
- Creating operational reports and automation scripts to reduce manual administration effort.
- Supporting pilot testing, user acceptance testing, and production rollouts.
Required Technical Skills
- Degree in Computer Science
- 3+ years of overall Microsoft Exchange experience
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to be onsite full-time in Pleasanton or Corona, CA

Preferred Qualifications

- Knowledge of workplace technologies, facilities platforms, or resource management systems.
- Microsoft 365 or Teams Administrator certifications preferred.
