Job Summary

Peridot, a division of Tekni Plex Inc, is a medical device manufacturing company in Pleasanton, CA. The position is for an experienced Assembly Technician on the Swing shift (2:00 PM – 10:30 PM). Pay Range: $18‑$22 DOE.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform a wide variety of tasks and processes required to build, assemble, inspect, measure, and package products in a controlled and/or standard manufacturing environment using small hand‑tools, microscopes, and various machines/equipment.
  • Read and comprehend safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, specifications, simple instructions, short correspondence, company policies and memos.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in manufacturing, preferably medical devices.
  • Experience with assembly of products, preferably medical devices.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive job tasks.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings and build per print (a plus).
  • Must desire working in a team environment.
  • Experience operating machines (a plus).
  • Experience using microscopes (preferred).
  • Good manual dexterity skills.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to work using a microscope for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to wear cleanroom & safety attire such as smock, hairnet, mask, booties, and safety glasses.
Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and blueprints. Ability to write routine reports and legibly complete time cards and work orders. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to other employees.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Ability to apply basic algebra, geometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Physical Demands

The role requires regular standing, walking, talking or hearing, handling, reaching, and occasional sitting, climbing or balancing. Must regularly lift up to 10 lbs and frequently lift up to 50 lbs. Vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and focus adjustment.

Work Environment

Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibration, high or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic, flammable or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, and extreme heat. Noise level is usually moderate.
