Position: Registered Nurse (RN) Wound Ostomy Continence Part Time Days

Overview

The Wound Ostomy Continence (WOC) Nurse is responsible for patient care and education related to acute and chronic wounds, pressure injuries, ostomies, and fecal and urinary incontinence.

What You Will Do
  • Assess patient’s relevant prior medical history, skin integrity problems, acute and chronic wounds, and ostomies to develop an appropriate plan of care.
  • Educate patients and families on wound and skin integrity problems, etiology, systemic factors that can be affected, and self‑care where practical.
  • Provide real‑time education to all staff members to improve their wound and ostomy care skills.
  • Consult with physicians, nurses, case managers, pharmacists, and therapists to provide coordinated care specific to each patient.
  • Document clearly the plan of care, education, specific steps in care, including products and how they are to be used.
  • Participate in two PI Surveys annually.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the C‑I‑CARE Standards of the Hospital.
Education Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (required).
  • Graduate of, or completion of, a WOC Nursing Education program accredited by the WOCN® or successfully completed an experiential program and certification through the WOCN Board (required).
Experience Qualifications
  • 1–2 years of recent WOC Nursing experience (required).
  • 2–3 years of recent general Nursing experience (required).
Required Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Maintain a high level of competence in WOC specialty.
  • Prior documentation experience within the EPIC electronic health record environment preferred.
  • Strong communication skills—ability to read, write, and understand English.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to problem‑solve and adapt to a changing environment.
  • Use information and stay abreast of technological developments to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision‑making in patient care.
  • Work as a valued team member, but also autonomously.
  • Positively influence others to meet patient needs and achieve shared goals.
  • Effectively prioritize to provide quality and valued patient care.
  • Know principles, practices and current trends in health care and hospital system organization and administration sufficient to provide clinical management, leadership, coordination, and operational direction for assigned areas of responsibility.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) – State licensure and/or Compact State licensure required.
  • Current American Heart Association Certification for Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers required.
  • Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) required, or
  • Certified Wound/Ostomy/Continence Nurse (CWOCN) required.

Base Pay Scale

Generally starting at $70.57 – $95.29 per hour. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
