Position
Advancing Practice Practitioner (Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant) – Cardiac Surgery – Stanford Health Care – Tri Valley – Day 12‑Hour and 8‑Hour shifts, with $10,000 Sign‑On Bonus.
Schedule & Call- 6 or 12‑hour shifts and one 8‑hour shift each two‑week period.
- 2 or ½ day clinic when not in the OR.
- Rounding in ICU, Step‑Down Unit and TAVR days.
- 24/7 on‑call service split evenly among the team; call pay after 3‑6 months probation (see rates).
Base pay: $89.01 – $117.94 per hour. Call pay includes: $500 per weeknight every 2 weeks; $2,100 per weekend (Friday‑Sunday) every 9 weeks; $800 per holiday; additional differential for night, weekend hours.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as first or second assistant during cardiac and thoracic surgeries.
- Assist with positioning, draping, suturing and tissue handling.
- Prepare surgical instruments and equipment; set up and break down OR.
- Support minimally invasive procedures.
- Maintain accurate patient records and adhere to hospital policies.
- Collaborate with the surgical team for safe and efficient procedures.
- Evaluate and treat patients with acute, chronic and preventive care as needed.
- Obtain patient histories, perform physical examinations, order diagnostic studies, administer medications, and obtain informed consent.
- Arrange admissions and discharges, complete appropriate paperwork, and coordinate outpatient care.
- Assist supervising physician in the operating room.
- Minimum 1 year operating‑room and clinical experience.
- Prior experience as a first or second assistant; EVH experience preferred.
- Current CPR and BLS certification.
- Strong understanding of sterile techniques and infection control.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Will consider NP if they have RNFA staff‑level credentials.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
- Graduate of a PA program accredited by ARC‑PA (for PA applicants).
- State licensure as PA, or RNFA if applicable.
- DEA registration.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
