Day Shift: 5am to 3pm. Position:
Assistant Nurse Manager (Stanford Health Care, Tri‑Valley).
The Assistant Nurse Manager assists the Nurse Manager with clinical management and administrative coordination of designated patient care unit(s) or service(s). The role supports the Nurse Manager in achieving unit objectives, supervising staff, and ensuring the implementation of policies and standards of care. The Assistant Nurse Manager provides timely information and feedback, applies personnel policies, and serves as a resource for patients and staff.
EssentialFunctions
- Support the operational aspects of assigned unit(s) and provide mentoring and leadership to staff.
- Supervise patient care staff and coordinate unit patient care operations for assigned shifts.
- Assist in administrative and management duties, and act on behalf of the Nurse Manager in her absence.
- Facilitate orientation, training, and ongoing staff development, and participate in performance evaluation.
- Monitor patient care processes and outcomes to ensure smooth workflow and desired outcomes.
- Communicate expectations, monitor staff performance, and interpret policies and procedures.
- Participate in unit goal, program planning, and continuous quality improvement and risk management programs.
- Provide competent and compassionate patient care and serve as a role model and mentor.
- Education
:
Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university. - Experience
:
Two (2) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience. - License & Certifications
:
California Registered Nurse (RN), BLS certification (American Heart Association). - Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
:- Contribute to health care policy formulation and work in partnership with multidisciplinary teams.
- Delegate responsibly, lead process improvement projects, and implement change to improve quality and safety.
- Provide leadership, influence others to meet patient needs and achieve shared goals.
- Supervise, coach, mentor, train, and evaluate staff.
- Use information technology to support decision‑making in patient care.
- Stay current with theories, practices, standards, and emerging technologies.
- Knowledge of laws, regulations, and hospital protocols governing nursing care.
- Organizational and administrative knowledge to support the practice of nursing within a health care system.

Generally starting at $80.87 – $108.68 per hour. The final salary will be based on factors such as internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
