Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care, practicing in an evidence-based manner, within the Scope of Practice of the California Nursing Practice Act, regulatory requirements, standards of care, and hospital policies. The RN performs all the steps of the nursing process including assessing patients, interpreting data, planning, implementing, and evaluating care. In addition, the RN coordinates care with other providers and acts as a teacher to the patient and family to provide the knowledge and skills needed to manage their care and prevent complications.
EssentialFunctions
- Assess patients by collecting and documenting data through interviewing, history taking, personal needs, and physical assessment findings.
- Obtain accurate and relevant assessment screening data and interpret the data as normal or abnormal.
- Determine nursing diagnoses.
- Monitor and evaluate data frequently based on patient stability.
- Safely perform and document care plans using the nursing procedures required for the patient assignment consistent with standards of care.
- Evaluate effectiveness of interventions and monitor patients for adverse responses and side effects.
- Assess patient/family level of understanding and document information in clinical records.
- Create and maintain a climate conducive to healing by being present to patients and families, identifying and managing discomfort, and providing emotional support and education.
- Teach needed information for self-care and illness prevention to patients and family members.
- Recognize and communicate ethical and legal issues relative to patient care; complete incident reports.
- Perform all provisions of care for any age‑related needs of patients served on the unit, including growth and development principles.
- Attend meetings and serve on departmental and/or hospital committees as assigned.
- Support achievement of department strategic and organizational goals.
- Perform duties in accordance with the C‑I‑CARE standards of the hospital.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Minimum of one year prior acute‑care Registered Nurse experience required.
- Minimum of one year prior OB acute experience required.
- Current CA R.N. License.
- Current American Heart Association BLS Certification.
- Relevant departmental certification as required.
- Strong communication skills – ability to read, write and understand English.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to problem‑solve and adapt to a changing environment.
- Ability to use information and keep abreast of technological developments to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision‑making in patient care.
- Ability to work as a valued team member, and also autonomously.
- Ability to positively influence others to meet patient needs and achieve shared goals.
- Ability to effectively prioritize to provide quality and valued patient care.
- Knowledge of principles, practices and current trends in health care and hospital system organization and administration, sufficient to provide clinical management, leadership, coordination, and operational direction for assigned areas of responsibility.

Generally starting at $77.69 - $95.52 per hour. Salary for the finalist selected for this role will be set based on internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
