Job Summary
Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) assists in direct patient care to patients, practicing in an evidence-based manner, within the Scope of Practice of the California Nursing Practice Act, regulatory requirements, standards of care, and hospital practices.
Essential Functions- Assist in preparation of units, patient rooms, and beds for receiving admissions, returning surgical patients, transfers, or discharges.
- Interact with patients, families, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner, responding to patients with empathy and positive interpersonal skills.
- Perform hourly rounding in conjunction with nursing.
- Complete accurate documentation in a timely manner.
- Assist RN with patient care as directed.
- Obtain vitals, monitor, and document.
- Report any changes observed in patient condition or behavior, patient/family complaints, or all unusual occurrences.
- Provide general nursing care such as positioning, ambulation, and transferring; lifting and turning; applying and utilizing special equipment.
- Provide morning and evening activities of daily living care for patient.
- Provide meal support for patient as needed.
- Perform routine treatment procedures including application of appliances for heat and cold, sitz baths, and special skin care, while assuring patient comfort and safety, upon direction of RN.
- Answer patient call lights immediately, anticipate patient needs, and check on patients regularly; demonstrate a cooperative attitude when assisting patients.
- Make rounds on assigned patients regularly.
- Provide post-mortem care and assist in transporting bodies to the morgue.
- Adhere to infection control policies and practices.
- Perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the C-I-CARE Standards of the Hospital.
High School graduate or equivalent.
Experience- Six months working as a Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
- Experience working in acute care preferred.
- Current CNA Certificate.
- Current American Heart Association BLS Certification.
- Relevant departmental certification as required (e.g., PALS, NRP) desired.
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the English language.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Quality Control, Safety and Joint Commission standards.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work as an effective team player.
- Basic computer skills.

Base Pay Scale:
Generally starting at $28.84 - $37.08 per hour. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
