Job SummaryThe Operating Room Scheduler performs scheduling and secretarial duties for the Department of Surgical Services.
Essential FunctionsThe essential functions listed below are general examples and not a description of comprehensive duties. May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.
- Schedules surgical procedures in computer, accurately watching for equipment conflicts to include OR, GI Lab, MPR and medical admits.
- Responsible for following proctoring protocol for new physicians, physician privileges and suspension lists and notifies Supervisor of any problems with these.
- Communicates with appropriate departments and resources the delays, cancellations, and add-on of surgical cases.
- Maintains surgery schedule without conflicts.
- Prints surgery schedule as needed and distributes to appropriate areas.
- Functions as a knowledgeable resource person for scheduling grid application.
- Reviews all faxes the night before for accuracy and confirms all codes, diagnosis and authorizations are complete.

- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Previous experience in medical setting preferred.
- Current American Heart Association BLS Certification preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Good communication skills with the ability to read, write and understand the English language.
- Ability to work as a valued team member.
- Problem identification and resolution skills.
- Effective organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail.

Generally starting at $28.84 - $37.08 per hour. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
