Assay Development Scientist I

Hard SkillsExpertise in DNA/RNA isolation, proficiency in PCR, qPCR, and digital PCR applications preferred, strong proficiency in data analysis using statistical tools (e.g., JMP).
Minimum Experience0‑5 years
EducationBachelor's or Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
ResponsibilitiesExperimentation:
Under close supervision, conducts laboratory experiments following safety guidelines. Works from and understands protocols provided. Appropriately documents experimental details in eLN and follows RMD guidance documents for ensuring data integrity. Provides experiment details and conclusions for design history files. Troubleshoots issues related to experiments. Executes activities within the assigned timeframe.
Data Analysis:
Analyzes experimental data using basic skills and existing templates created for the purpose. Follows protocols for data analysis with supervision.
Communication:
Communicates results to supervisor in a timely manner. Uses basic technical writing skills to write laboratory reports in eLN and DHFs (e.g., protocols and reports). May present findings at group meetings. Receives and provides feedback.
Professional Interactions:
Establishes professional relationships as appropriate. Participates in active collaboration within Development. Creates and maintains a culture of respectful and professional interactions among the entire team.
Laboratory Management:
Participates in routine lab maintenance, lab safety, ISO, and QSR implementation. Tracks laboratory inventory (e.g., equipment, supplies, specimens, raw materials, reagents).
Technical Understanding:
Has basic understanding of molecular/microbiology and biochemical concepts (e.g., PCR, sterile technique, calculations). Familiar with assay and platform.
Project Management:
Aware of project timelines and actively contributes toward the completion of project goals.
