This is a Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley job.
A Brief Overview The Retail Coordinator supports daily store operations by overseeing staff and volunteers, maintaining high merchandising standards, managing inventory accuracy, and ensuring smooth point-of-sale (POS) transactions. This role serves as a key leader on the sales floor, delivering exceptional customer experience while supporting operational goals.
Locations Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley What you will do Operations:
Coordination of daily operations of the gift shop Merchandising:
Understands how product merchandising impacts business and customer experience.
Responsible for executing established merchandising plans.
Ensures execution and maintenance of all merchandising standards (e.g., sizing, categorizing, signage, etc).Maintains displays within shop to merchandising standards by restocking, facing, straightening, and cleaning or any other task necessary to maintain appearance and salability of items.
Ensures fresh flow of merchandise from storage to sales floor.
Trains volunteers on proper gift shop operations and procedures related to merchandising.
Provides product details to volunteers, customers, and co-workers.
Inventory Management:
Assist with receiving, stocking, and organizing merchandise
Monitor stock levels and notify management of replenishment needs
Manages stock control records and information such as product performance rate, characteristics of items in inventory, and current market conditions for Manager.
Compiles and reviews data from sources such as sales orders, invoices, and accounting reports to determine compliance and accuracy.
Conduct regular inventory counts and help reconcile discrepancies
Reviews product tagging and labels for inventory accuracy and completeness.
Responsible for product tagging when needed.
Support loss prevention efforts through accurate inventory practices
Coordinates with SHC Gift Shop management.
Buying:
Place orders for designated inventory departments as approved or directed by Manager.
Analyzes and makes recommendations to management regarding stock levels, item status, and product disposition.
Prepare orders or other documents for purchasing or requisitioning new or additional stock items. Recommends additions to or deletions of products to be sold in store to management based on customer input and special order sales.
Coordinates with SHC main campus gift shop management.
Point of Sale (POS Operations)
Operate and oversee the POS system, including sales transactions, returns, exchanges, and discounts
Train staff and volunteers on proper POS procedures and cash handling policies
Troubleshoot basic POS issues and communicate system concerns to management
Customer Service:
Provide excellent customer service and resolve customer questions or concerns efficiently
Support sales goals by assisting customers with product knowledge and recommendations
Ensure store policies and service standards are consistently followed
Volunteer Services:
Manages Gift Shop volunteer staff.
Maintain accurate records in the volunteer management software program (Samaritan) for Gift Shop volunteers.
Schedules volunteer activity for Gift Shop volunteer management system.
Education Qualifications Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Experience QualificationsA minimum of three (3) years of retail experience in a high-end, fast-paced retail or hospitality environment, including at least one year in a leadership or supervisory capacity, or equivalent relevant experience Required Strong merchandising and visual presentation skills Required Experience leading, training, or coordinating volunteers or team members Required Working knowledge of POS systems and cash handling procedures Required Understanding of inventory management and stock control processes Required Required Knowledge,
