Fire Alarm Installation Technician
Pacific Signaling is hiring two full‑time technicians to install and program Fire Alarm and Security Systems in Pleasanton, CA. The role is full‑time and requires working alongside senior installers on dynamic life‑safety and alarm solutions.
Responsibilities- Install, modify, maintain, program, and repair fire alarm panels.
- Test all systems and equipment after repairs to ensure performance.
- Install pull stations, smoke detectors, and duct detectors.
- Perform maintenance service calls for security, fire, PA, and other low‑voltage systems.
- Diagnose and repair/replace wiring, devices, analog and digital control panels.
- Maintain and repair smoke and heat detectors, magnetic door holders, and other system components including circuit cards, power supplies, software, and copper/fiber optic systems.
- Serve as a technical advisor on system programming and configuration; coordinate code requirements with local fire marshals.
- All aspects of fire alarm hardware and software systems.
- NFPA codes and local fire codes.
- Computer programming and technologies related to fire alarm, security, and other low‑voltage systems.
- Communicate system performance to customers.
- Oversee and ensure proper completion of work performed by team members; train technicians and other employees.
- Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, and product manuals for programming and verification.
- Maintain confidentiality of work‑related information and materials.
- Effective organization and planning skills.
- Communicate concisely and effectively.
- Follow instructions precisely.
- Work independently.
- Safely drive a company vehicle.
- Hear horn or warning devices at a distance of 30 yards.
- Lift up to 35 pounds.
- Bend, stoop, kneel, stand, and walk significant distances.
- Observe and detect hazardous obstacles at 30 yards; verify written information at close range.
- Work from ladders and scaffolds above 30 feet.
- Four years of related experience, including at least one year working specifically with fire alarm systems.
- California Fire Life Safety Technician certification.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum NICET Level I – Fire Alarm certification.
- Valid California driver’s license.
- Experience installing, servicing, troubleshooting, and programming fire alarm systems such as Silent Knight, Simplex, Notifier, EST, Fire Lite, and Mircom.
- Work safely and follow all safety rules.
- Report unsafe conditions and behaviors; take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent unsafe practices.
