Stationary Engineer
The Stationary Engineer will be stationed at a healthcare facility in Pleasanton, CA, primarily working the night shift from 10pm to 6:30am, Thursday through Monday, with occasional swing shifts from 2pm to 10:30pm. This role involves the operation of high-pressure boilers and maintaining the building's mechanical and utility systems to ensure the safety and comfort of patients and staff.
Responsibilities- Operate and maintain steam-generating boilers following recommended procedures.
- Participate in the preventative maintenance program for mechanical and electrical distribution systems.
- Inspect and repair piping systems, including oxygen, gas, steam, and water pipelines.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and periodic test runs of emergency generating plants.
- Maintain detailed records of work assignments, including materials and labor costs.
- Determine the necessity of repairs or replacements and prioritize repair schedules.
- Perform checks on all fire and safety equipment, ensuring records are current and accessible.
- Install, maintain, and repair machinery and fixtures in compliance with building codes.
- Assist with major and minor utility shutdowns as required.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Five years of directly related work experience.
- Current, valid CDL California Driver's License.
- Extensive knowledge of industrial electricity and three-phase motors.
- Ability to operate standard tools and equipment.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Skills & Qualifications
- Preferred license in construction/building trades.
- Experience in hospital or industrial maintenance is advantageous.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of regulatory requirements.
- Ability to adapt to changing environments.

Work EnvironmentThis onsite position at the hospital involves working with a diverse maintenance team under the direction of the Chief Engineer. The environment includes collaboration with skilled trades such as electricians, HVAC technicians, carpenters, plumbers, and locksmiths. Initial training will be conducted during the day shift for two months before transitioning to the main swing shift.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pleasanton, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $48.42 - $65.90/hr individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
