Data Scientist, Software Engineer
The Bio Engineer works closely with Molecular Biology, Engineering, Research and Development and other teams to perform all aspects of bioinformatics data analysis including experimental design, data collection, quality control, algorithm design, analysis & visualization, and communication of results.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing highly scalable biology-based, data-intensive processing systems for software solutions with highly interactive UI’s suitable to a wide range of end users
- Collaborating with product, data scientist, and engineering team to implement complex calculations and data visualizations for microbiology applications
- Translating the product requirements/architecture documents into technical design documents and software specifications
- Liaising between microbiology lab processes and requirements and software development requirements
- Managing the software development process including regular releases, software quality assurance, and development tracking tasks across a distributed software development team
- Ensuring the codebase is continuously deliverable and deployable using latest state of the art database systems and tools
- Providing detailed customer-facing system documentation and training videos.
- Support for research and development,test planning, and experimentation for new products
* Position may be performed remotely 30% of the time anywhere within Alameda County, CA.
* 10% travel within the U.S. to visit clients or partners.
Minimum Degree Requirements :
- Master’s degree in Biology , Software Engineering, Technology, Biotechnology or closely related fields, plus 3 years of relevant experience, or alternatively,
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Software Engineering, Technology, Biotechnology or closely related fields, plus5 years of relevant experience.
Specific Experience and Skills Required:
(1) Knowledge in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology.
(2) Knowledge in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics.
(5) Experience in using modern development tools (Git, jenkins, Docke) and cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud).
Location : 4473 Willow Rd., Suite 260, Pleasanton , CA 94588. May be able to work remotely (30% of the time) anywhere within Alameda county.
