Software Engineer, Python
You will be part of the Software Development and Analytics team supporting the development of AI‑based software assistants. AI assistants are accessible to users via a chat interface and help answer questions and perform complex software tasks. You will be assigned a mentor and work within one of the functional disciplines in the Computational Biology organization. - Utilize AI tools to turn software documentation into structured knowledge bases that are easily accessible to LLMs.
- Design and optimize query prompts to align AI assistant actions to user intent.
- Present data from capstone project to a broad audience.
- Education:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree at an accredited university in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Bioinformatics or related field. - Excellent interpersonal/communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
- Experience coding in Python.
- Experience working with any Cloud platform preferably AWS.
- Experience with prompt and context engineering is a plus.
- Experience with LLM‑based coding tools is a plus.
- 3.0 Minimum GPA.
- Rising Juniors, Seniors, and Masters Students.
- Be willing to make a full‑time commitment of 40 hours a week for 9 weeks from June 15 to August 14, 2026.
This position must be based in Pleasanton, California and requires the employee to be located within commuting distance of the office.
CompensationThe hourly range for this position is $25 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
