About the Team
The Developer Relations Engineering (DRE) team is responsible for building and promoting a developer ecosystem that includes samples, frameworks, demos, and guidance for the Workday platform. The team collaborates with Product Management, Engineering, and AI Platform to enable developers to adopt new AI‑powered tools and agentic solutions.
About the RoleAs Principal Developer Relations Engineer, you will lead technical initiatives that bridge the Workday platform with external developers and partners. You will help the platform’s ecosystem shift toward agentic and AI‑driven solutions, mentor frontline teams, and shape the future of developer enablement within Workday.
Responsibilities- Enable Front‑Line Roles – Provide technical knowledge and support for Forward Deployed Engineers and other teams on existing and emerging platform capabilities, with a focus on new AI features.
- Run Early Adopter Programs – Coordinate Early Adopter engagements across Developer Platform, AI Platform, and Product Development Engineering, ensuring effective program execution, real‑world testing, and product feedback collection.
- Advise the Developer Community – Help developers integrate agents, agentic apps, integrations, and AI tooling to accelerate solution delivery while promoting responsible AI.
- Build and Maintain Technical Assets – Create and update samples, frameworks, demos, and guided activities that showcase Workday’s platform, including Extend, Orchestrate, Data Cloud, and AI tools.
- Lead Enablement Sessions – Deliver presentations on developer deep dives, contribute to developer forums, and host sessions for sales, services, and customer‑facing teams.
- Basic Qualifications – 10+ years of experience in developer relations, enablement, technical consulting, or platform engineering; hands‑on experience with AI‑powered developer tools.
- Communication Skills – Ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and present at conferences and enablement events.
- Relationship Management – Experience managing cross‑functional relationships and aligning diverse stakeholder needs.
- Strategic Thinking – Forward‑looking analysis of the developer ecosystem to identify opportunities and challenges.
- Innovation and Empathy – Creative problem solving, openness to new tools, and deep empathy for the developer experience.
- Organizational Discipline – Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities with structure and flexibility.
Base salary range (primary location, USA, CA, Pleasanton): $178,200
USD – $267,400
USD. Additional US locations: $150,500
USD – $267,400
USD. Compensation may include Workday Bonus Plan, commission/bonus, and annual refresh stock grants.
