Math District Specialist

The Math District Specialist provides leadership in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the district's mathematics program. This role supports high-quality mathematics instruction aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and ensures consistent, rigorous instructional practices across campuses. The specialist works directly with teachers and administrators to strengthen instructional practice, improve student achievement, and close learning gaps through data-driven decision-making and job-embedded professional learning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required;
    Master's degree in Education, Mathematics, Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Leadership, or a related field preferred.
  • Valid Texas teaching certification in Mathematics.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful classroom teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated record of strong student achievement and academic growth.
  • Deep knowledge of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for mathematics.
  • Expertise in curriculum development, mathematics pedagogy, instructional coaching, and assessment practices.
  • Experience analyzing student performance data to improve instructional outcomes.
  • Ability to design and deliver effective professional learning for teachers and administrators.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, and leadership skills.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience in district-level instructional leadership or curriculum support.
  • Proven success coaching teachers and improving mathematics achievement across multiple grade levels or campuses.
  • Strong understanding of research-based mathematics instructional practices, intervention systems, and assessment design.
  • Ability to build trust, lead change, and foster a culture of continuous improvement across the district.
