South Texas – Pleasanton, TX 78064.
ResponsibilitiesThe Valve Technician performs work in the assembly, maintenance, testing and inspection of manual and/or hydraulic valves utilized in Oil & Gas operations. The role requires teamwork, tight deadlines and a focus on customer satisfaction.
Specific Responsibilities- Assemble and repair manual/hydraulic valves at the district facility.
- Inspect valve units returning from customer sites for wear and defects, and replace components as necessary.
- Calibrate valve units through pressure testing equipment and pumps to ensure equipment reliability and structural integrity.
- Ensure equipment lubrication meets manufacturer specifications before valves are deployed into production environments.
- Execute rigging up/rigging down, loading and unloading activities.
- Transport equipment and/or personnel to and from worksites.
- Maintain the work area: cleaning, sweeping floors, picking up tools, emptying trash cans and other housekeeping chores.
- Work outside normal schedules as required to meet customer needs.
- Consult with job‑site supervisor to complete company work tickets.
- Keep tools and equipment maintained; report issues promptly for repairs.
- Follow safety protocols and use Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, ear plugs, steel‑toe boots, flame‑resistant clothing…
- Troubleshoot valve problems as needed.
- Perform miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience- 1‑3 years of practical experience working independently with valve operations.
- Experience in an oil & gas/industrial setting.
- Prior knowledge of lubricants, including classes, measurements and operating temperatures.
- Familiarity with multi‑vendor valve equipment.
- Proficiency with basic hand tools.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong reading, writing and communication skills.
- Ability to read pressure testing charts.
- Ability to operate greasing units.
- Skilled in working with overhead cranes and forklift equipment.
- Self‑starter able to work with minimal supervision.
- Good incident reporting and emergency protocol awareness.
- Energetic, flexible, and adaptable in a fast‑paced environment.
- Capability to identify and prioritize tasks in a high‑volume setting.
- Ability to work off step stools, lift platforms, and balance while supporting equipment.
- Positive collaboration with co‑workers, customers and management.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Physical endurance for outdoor work and environmental conditions.
The employee must be able to:
- Hear and communicate without hindrance.
- Use hands to hold, handle or feel; reach with hand and arm; talk or hear.
- Climb to heights of less than 10 feet, balance, kneel, crouch, and crawl under and around equipment.
- Lift or move 80–100 pounds.
- Maintain close, distance, color vision and focus capability.
- Pass a physical examination, drug screening, and Motor Vehicle Record check.
- Work under long and irregular hours, and in varying locations within the region.
- Operate safely in the field/shop, with wet, cold, humid, or harsh conditions, near moving mechanical parts, vibration, loud noise, potential fumes or airborne particles, or exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals while wearing appropriate PPE.
Typical schedule:
Monday to Friday, may be modified based on customer needs. Travel is typically within the region. The role requires maintaining a lifestyle that reflects company values of teamwork, caring, integrity, and work ethic.
