Responsibilities
- Manage AWS, GCP and/or Azure cloud environments
- Install, configure, and upgrade SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB
- Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies for databases
- Manage the full lifecycle of Dev Ops tools (Jenkins, Artifactory, Consul, and others), including upgrades, patches and scalability enhancements
- Build and manage cloud‑based Kubernetes clusters
- Configure, deploy, and scale open source software such as Ubuntu Linux, Docker, rkt, Kubernetes, Prometheus, Fluentd, Flannel, Elasticsearch
- Contribute code to open source projects to fix bugs and add needed features
- Write new components from scratch when suitable open source projects are lacking
- Build sensors to monitor platform health and performance
- Interact with customers to promote best practices and influence architecture toward cloud‑native solutions
- Serve as technical lead for small projects and support medium to large projects
- Troubleshoot and fix the system when it breaks
- Share the responsibility of being on‑call
- 5+ years direct experience building/operating cloud native applications using Kubernetes and Docker
- Proficiency with shell scripting and related tools
- Proficiency with Linux Sys Ops or Windows Sys Ops tasks
- Experience using Docker in production
- Demonstrated experience developing or operating production web applications and basic understanding of HTTP(S), HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and XML
- Intermediate knowledge of at least one of the following languages: C#, Visual Basic, Power Shell, Linux, ASP.NET, Ruby, Go, or Java (preferably in an agile SaaS environment)
- Exposure to Kubernetes in a bare‑metal/non‑public cloud provider environment
- Experience with open source platforms and technologies
- Experience with software development processes and methodologies
- Experience building cloud native/cloud‑first applications in a cloud environment such as AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure
- Track record of developing and implementing robust, distributed online solutions
- Ability to write clean, readable code
- Familiarity with networking, distributed systems, and computer science concepts
- Strong ownership, pride of work, and ability to take projects to completion
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Self‑motivated, eager to learn, and thrive in fast‑paced, iterative teams
Salary Range: $–$. Placement within this range depends upon prior experience, skill set, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, Black Line offers short‑term and long‑term incentive programs, along with a robust offering of benefits and wellness plans. Compensation may include a split model between base salary and variable incentives such as Incentive Compensation Plan (ICP) or On‑Target Earnings (OTE).
