Sr Remediation Estimator
The Sr Remediation Estimator prepares accurate, detailed cost estimates for complex environmental remediation and construction projects, including soil, groundwater, and ISCO/ISS scopes. This role supports strategic business development, shapes competitive bids and proposals, and contributes to project planning by leveraging a strong understanding of environmental regulations, remediation technologies, and construction methodologies. The position offers the opportunity to mentor junior estimators, influence project strategy, and work in a supportive, family-feel environment backed by substantial resources.
Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates and proposals for remediation projects, including soil, groundwater, and ISCO/ISS scopes.
- Analyze bid documents, drawings, specifications, and environmental reports to determine project scope, quantities, and pricing.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to validate assumptions, ensure accurate estimates, and identify project risks.
- Develop, maintain, and refine cost databases, pricing models, and historical project data to improve estimating accuracy and efficiency.
- Support strategic business development by providing budgets, schedules, and technical input for competitive proposals and bids.
- Prepare comprehensive bid packages and proposals that clearly outline scope, methodology, and cost structure.
- Review plans and specifications to define scope, execution assumptions, and construction methodologies for remediation and civil work.
- Estimate earthwork activities, including excavation, grading, haul-off, fill, and related civil construction costs.
- Evaluate ISCO (in situ chemical oxidation) treatment approaches, quantities, materials, and implementation costs for remediation projects.
- Estimate ISS (in situ stabilization/solidification) activities, including equipment needs, materials, production rates, and associated costs.
- Develop detailed labor, equipment, subcontractor, and material pricing for remediation and environmental construction projects.
- Support project bidding efforts by coordinating with internal teams and subcontractors to develop competitive proposals.
- Participate in subcontractor management related to estimating, including reviewing quotes and aligning them with project scope.
- Mentor and guide junior estimators, sharing best practices, reviewing their work, and helping develop their technical estimating skills.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations in estimating assumptions and project planning.
- Review and interpret technical reports, remedial designs, and regulatory requirements to inform scope, methodology, and cost assumptions.
- Apply geotechnical and environmental engineering principles when evaluating site conditions and developing remediation strategies.
- Contribute to operations and project management planning by aligning estimates with resource availability, schedules, and execution strategies.
Essential Skills
- At least 5 years of experience in estimating environmental remediation or construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of environmental remediation methods, equipment, and materials.
- Experience with environmental remediation estimating for complex projects and environmental construction.
- Proficiency in cost estimation, including labor, equipment, subcontractor, and material pricing.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare competitive bids and proposals for remediation and construction projects.
- Experience in scope development through review of plans, specifications, and environmental reports.
- Experience in geotechnical and environmental engineering concepts relevant to remediation and earthwork.
- Experience with project management and operations management in a construction or remediation context.
- Hands-on experience with environmental remediation, drilling, earthwork, and soil-related construction activities.
- Proficiency with estimating software used for construction and remediation projects.
- Strong analytical skills for evaluating technical data, quantities, and cost drivers.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple estimates, deadlines, and bid packages.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with project managers, engineers, and field teams.
- Ability to review and understand technical reports, remedial approaches, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite for analysis, documentation, and presentation of estimates.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with ISCO (in situ chemical oxidation) projects, including evaluating treatment approaches, quantities, materials, and implementation costs.
- Experience with ISS (in situ stabilization/solidification), including estimating equipment, materials, and production assumptions.
