We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced RN/LPN Wound Nurse to join our team. This role is responsible for implementing and managing the facility’s Wound Prevention and Treatment Program to ensure the highest quality of care for our residents.
Purpose of the PositionThe Wound Nurse is responsible for overseeing wound prevention and treatment initiatives within the facility. This position works closely with the Director of Nursing, Unit Managers, Staff Development Coordinator, and the Wound Care Team to promote best practices in wound management and ensure proper staff education and compliance.
Key ResponsibilitiesAdministrative & Clinical Functions
Assess skin condition on all new admissions using a standardized assessment tool
Collaborate with the Wound Care Team to determine appropriate wound prevention strategies
Obtain physicians’ orders for treatment modalities as indicated
Implement treatment plans as assigned by the Director of Nursing
Administer and monitor treatment modalities appropriately
Document all treatments accurately and consistently, reviewing prior documentation for continuity
Complete weekly wound summaries
Educate nursing staff on principles of wound prevention and treatment
Respect residents’ rights regarding choice, consent, and refusal of treatment
Consult with the Unit Manager and Social Worker when necessary to ensure compliance with resident rights, facility policies, and State and Federal regulations
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
Current RN or LPN license
Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a nursing facility with wound care experience required
Wound Care Certification (preferred)
