MEMS Sensor Advanced R&D Engineer/Scientist
Honeywell Aerospace is a leading global provider of integrated avionics, engines, systems and service solutions for aircraft manufacturers, airlines, business and general aviation, military, space and airport operations.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a M.S. or Ph.D. level electrical engineer or scientist who will pursue applied research in the area of Micro‑Electro‑Mechanical Systems (MEMS) and quartz‑based inertial sensors such as accelerometers, gyroscopes and pressure sensors. The potential areas of research, development, and applications include MEMS device design, device physics, mechanical and electrical analysis and simulation, and analysis and interpretation of sensor test results.
The scientist will be expected to develop new concepts, write project proposals, and develop new technologies for future products. This will include understanding customer requirements and translating those into device and product requirements.
ResponsibilitiesYOU MUST HAVE
- Masters in Electrical Engineering, Physics or related degree
WE VALUE
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or Material Science
- MEMS and silicon wafer fabrication processes
- Microsystem device design and simulation (including tools such as LEdit)
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Experience with leading, planning, and execution of the development and testing of sensors, debugging hardware and software
- Experience with two or more of the following
- Test techniques particularly focused on high performance sensors; writing test plans; developing data collection software/tools; analysis and interpretation of data; measurements over applied environmental conditions such as temperature, rotation, acceleration, vibration, magnetic field, etc.
- Embedded software development (e.g., FPGA, DSP)
- Analog electronics development including sensor electronics technology, low noise circuit design, and optimization of circuit layouts
- Digital electronics development (e.g., ADC, DAC, SPI interfaces)
- Analytical capability to design transducers using mechanical and electrical analysis, simulation, and/or finite element modelling using tools such as COMSOL or ANSYS
- Ability to understand the physics and demonstrate capability of modeling sensors and microsystems using first principles, equations, and simulation tools, and translate these modeling results into improvements in device performance
