Qualifications
  • Maintains a valid Massachusetts DESE teacher certification appropriate for the grade level and subject area assigned.
  • Proven ability to relate to administrators, parents, teachers, students, other staff and visitors.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
  • A sense of humor and ability to work politely and friendly with all staff, students, and the broader educational community.
  • Other qualifications the school department may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • Job Goals
    • Provide an organized, smoothly functioning class environment where students access and progress toward Massachusetts standards‑based curriculum and develop social and emotional skills.

    Performance Responsibilities
  • Meet and instruct assigned students at designated locations and times.
  • Supervise all assigned students and any para educators.
  • Plan a program of study that addresses the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Create a classroom/shop environment conducive to learning and engagement.
  • Prepare for assigned classes and provide written evidence of preparation when requested.
  • Guide learning toward achievement of curriculum standards and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media.
  • Implement the district’s strategic plan and individual school improvement plans.
  • Evaluate and document student work regularly and provide progress reports as required.
  • Seek assistance from district specialists as necessary.
  • Take necessary precautions to maintain high standards of student behavior and ensure a safe, productive environment.
  • Maintain accurate, complete student records as required by law, district policy, and regulation.
  • Communicate with outside businesses to provide supervised workplace opportunities in conjunction with the Co‑op Coordinator.
  • Assist administration with policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and develop reasonable classroom behavior rules.
  • Maintain and update competency tracking documentation.
  • Be available outside instructional hours for students and parents as reasonable terms permit.
  • Communicate classroom plans with para educators regularly.
  • Follow individual student safety plans, IEPs, 504s, health care plans, etc.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to remain current in the field.
  • Participate in program advisory committee meetings to ensure current industry practices and comply with regulations.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with others.
  • Maintain open communication with students, colleagues, and parents regarding academic and behavioral progress.
  • Perform other related tasks or assume responsibilities as assigned by the Principal or Program Manager.

    School College Calendar Year. Performance evaluated annually according to the EAPC teacher contract. Salary per current EAPC teacher contract.
