Greensea has a defense product portfolio called Bayonet that is focused in Mine Countermeasures, Explosive Ordnance Disposal, and Special Operations. Since 2017, we have pioneered the use of autonomous robots and artificial intelligence to create scale and safety in ocean warfare while protecting the warfighter.

Greensea’s emerging Ever Clean product transitions defense technology to the commercial sector to create high impact and achieve significant growth within a large market. Ever Clean uses autonomous underwater robots to keep the hulls of ships clean, allowing ships to perform optimally. This Robot-as-a-Service business provides significant fuel savings, carbon emissions reductions, and increased vessel performance through a simple subscription program.

The Prototype Engineer is a key member of the Hardware Engineering team at Greensea IQ, helping transform innovative marine robotics concepts into reliable, production-ready products. This hands‑on engineering role works across the full product development lifecycle, from early design concepts and engineering prototypes through first builds, testing, troubleshooting, and transition to manufacturing.

Collaborating with Mechanical, Electrical, Software, and Manufacturing Teams, the Prototype Engineer helps ensure that products are not only well designed, but can also be assembled, tested, and manufactured consistently, efficiently, and at scale.

• Support the development of product concepts, designs, and engineering requirements, providing practical input based on hands‑on build and manufacturing experience.
• Review and provide feedback on engineering documentation, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and test protocols/reports.
• Provide hands‑on guidance for design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA), identifying opportunities for poka‑yoke, part‑count reduction, simplified assembly, improved reliability, and reduced manufacturing costs.
• Build, troubleshoot, and test engineering prototypes and first‑build units, translating engineering designs into functional hardware.
• Develop initial assembly and test methods, work instructions, and supporting fixtures and tooling to enable consistent and repeatable builds.
• Serve as a subject matter expert during the transition from engineering to manufacturing, helping establish robust, scalable production processes, as well as training production personnel as needed.
• Support root cause investigations and corrective actions for field failures.
• Proactively identify opportunities for product and process improvements and help drive solutions from concept through implementation.
• Maintain a strong focus on quality, safety, and attention to detail while adhering to established engineering procedures and good manufacturing and documentation practices.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5-7 years of experience in product development, manufacturing engineering, test engineering, or a related engineering environment.
• Demonstrated hands‑on experience building, testing, troubleshooting, and improving complex electromechanical products.
