Role Description

The Assistant Manager role at Old Navy in Plymouth, MA is a full-time, on-site position supporting the overall store leadership team. This role oversees daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, visual merchandising execution, and adherence to brand standards. The Assistant Manager leads and coaches sales associates to deliver excellent customer service, drive sales, and ensure an engaging, inclusive shopping experience.

Day-to-day responsibilities include managing staffing and scheduling, monitoring key performance metrics, handling customer concerns, and supporting inventory management and loss prevention efforts. The Assistant Manager also helps maintain a safe, clean, and organized store environment while modeling Old Navy’s values and culture.

Qualifications
  • Store operations and leadership skills, including experience supervising teams, managing shifts, and supporting daily retail activities.
  • Customer service and sales skills, with the ability to engage shoppers, resolve issues professionally, and drive performance in a fast-paced environment.
  • Visual merchandising and brand presentation skills, ensuring product displays, signage, and floor sets align with company standards.
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills, including time management, prioritization, and handling multiple tasks with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members, leaders, and customers of diverse backgrounds.
  • Basic business and retail acumen, such as understanding sales goals, KPIs, inventory processes, and loss prevention practices.
  • Previous retail or customer-facing leadership experience is preferred; experience in apparel or specialty retail is a plus.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and to stand, walk, and lift merchandise as required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in business or retail management is an advantage.
