About the Organization

Plymouth Area Coalition for the Homeless provides critical support to families and individuals experiencing homelessness in the Plymouth community. Our mission is to offer safe shelter, case management, and re-housing services that empower participants to achieve stability and self‑sufficiency. We are committed to compassionate, person‑centered care and strong partnerships with local resources to make a lasting impact.

Position Summary

The Residential Support Staff is responsible for daily interactions with shelter residents, ensuring the smooth operation, safety, and security of the facility. This role fosters a supportive and welcoming environment for all clients, responding to emergencies as needed and contributing to the overall success of the Coalition’s programs.

What You’ll Do
  • Ensure safety and security of residents and facility
  • Enforce shelter rules and program policies
  • Conduct client intakes and prepare rooms
  • Respond to emergencies and provide crisis support
  • Monitor security systems and facility areas
  • Document client observations and concerns
  • Maintain client privacy and professional boundaries
  • Perform shift tasks and other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; accurate and timely documentation essential
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Demonstrated reliability and commitment to the mission of the Plymouth Area Coalition for the Homeless
Preferred
  • Post‑high school education or experience in a residential setting
  • Experience working with homeless or low‑income populations
Skills & Knowledge
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast‑paced environment
  • Knowledge of shelter operations, safety, and security protocols
Work Schedule
  • Part Time - 8 Hour Shifts (Flexible)
  • Shelter operates 7 days per week
  • Weekday, evening, and weekend openings
  • Rotating on‑call schedule
Physical Requirements
  • In‑person work
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Regular use of computer, phone, and office equipment
