Accounting Analyst (Contract)Duration: 4 Month Project
Location: Plymouth, MI Hybrid
Hours: 30-40 hours per week
Skilled and experienced Temporary Accounting Analyst to support a critical balance sheet reconciliation initiative. This role will focus on analyzing and reconciling complex balance sheet accounts, with a particular emphasis on customer rebate accounts, and other customer analyses across multiple financial systems including SAP, AS400, and the General Ledger
.
The successful candidate will perform detailed account analysis at the customer level, identify and resolve reconciling items, and establish sustainable reconciliation processes. This assignment is expected to last approximately three to four months and will play a key role in improving financial accuracy, strengthening internal controls, and reducing financial risk.
Key Responsibilities- Perform detailed reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, including customer rebate and accrual accounts.
- Analyze account activity across SAP, AS400, and General Ledger systems to identify discrepancies and reconciling differences.
- Investigate outstanding balances and aging items at the customer and transaction level.
- Validate the accuracy and completeness of rebate-related accounting records.
- Prepare reconciliation schedules, supporting documentation, and account analyses.
- Work closely with Accounting, Finance, Sales Operations, and other stakeholders to resolve account discrepancies.
- Document reconciliation methodologies, findings, and recommended corrective actions.
- Support month-end and quarter-end close activities related to assigned accounts.
- Prepare ad-hoc reports as needed.
- Develop sustainable reconciliation templates and documentation for future use by the accounting team.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of accounting and financial analysis experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Strong understanding of accrual accounting principles and general ledger processes.
- Advanced experience with SAP.
- Experience working with AS400 systems and reporting tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform detailed transaction-level investigations.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience reconciling customer rebate, incentive, pricing, or promotional accrual accounts.
- Background in automotive, manufacturing, distribution, automotive, or consumer products environments.
