About Rivian
Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions‑free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract.
Role SummaryThe Sr. L&D Partner, Visual and Interaction Design role brings Rivian’s learning experiences to life through the power of visual design, interaction craft, and learner‑centered thinking. This role sits at the intersection of instructional design and experience design—responsible not only for structuring effective learning, but for making every touchpoint feel intentional, on‑brand, and genuinely engaging.
You’ll partner closely with Learning Experience Designers to support the full design and development lifecycle: from needs analysis and solution scoping through visual production, interactive development, and delivery. Your work will span eLearning modules, facilitator decks, job aids, campaign‑style learning materials, and beyond—each built with a designer’s eye and a learner’s perspective.
This is a hands‑on creative role. You’ll spend meaningful time in the tools—Articulate Rise, Storyline, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Workplace, and more—building assets that are polished, purposeful, and aligned with Rivian’s mission to Keep the World Adventurous Forever.
Responsibilities Visual & Interaction Design- Design and produce high‑quality visual assets for eLearning, VILT decks, job aids, and campaign learning materials that reflect Rivian’s brand standards and feel consistent across every learner touchpoint.
- Build interactive learning experiences in Articulate Rise and Storyline 360—including branching scenarios, software simulations, gamified elements, and custom interactions that go beyond out‑of‑the‑box templates.
- Use AI‑assisted coding tools to design and build custom interactions embedded within eLearning content—accelerating development of JavaScript‑enhanced exercises, dynamic knowledge checks, and bespoke UI elements.
- Apply UX thinking to every deliverable: consider how learners navigate, where they might disengage, and how layout, hierarchy, and interaction patterns can reduce cognitive load and sustain attention.
- Develop and maintain visual design systems and templates that enable the team to produce consistent, on‑brand content at speed.
- Create motion graphics, animated explainers, and supporting visuals for video productions using tools like Adobe After Effects or Apple Motion.
- Collaborate with the LXDs and subject matter experts to translate learning objectives into engaging instructional content—structuring lessons, writing learner‑facing copy, and designing knowledge checks and assessments.
- Support the full development lifecycle for blended learning solutions, from intake and design documentation through build, QA, and deployment on the Rivian Learning Network (RLN).
- Conduct and contribute to learning needs analyses, helping identify performance gaps, define learner personas, and shape solution proposals grounded in adult learning principles.
- Apply proven instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM) to ensure solutions are structured for clarity, retention, and measurable behavior change—not just content delivery.
- 3–5 years of experience in learning design, instructional design, or a related field, with a strong portfolio demonstrating both instructional quality and visual craft.
- Hands‑on experience building eLearning, including custom interactions, branching scenarios, and responsive design.
- Demonstrated ability to design for the learner experience—not just structure content, but consider how visual hierarchy, pacing, and interactivity affect engagement and comprehension.
- Experience with graphic design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Canva) and a working knowledge of UX/UI design principles applied to learning contexts.
- Familiarity with VILT design and facilitated learning formats; experience building facilitator decks with strong visual storytelling.
- Visual design fluency: typography, layout, color, iconography, and brand consistency applied to learning materials.
- Interaction design ability: custom Storyline…
