Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $90,000 – $140,000 (based on experience)

Position Overview
We are seeking an Application Engineer / Senior Application Engineer with bearing expertise to join a premium Tier-1 supplier located in Plymouth, Michigan
.
This role serves as the technical authority on bearing selection, application, and performance
, working closely with customers, sales teams, and internal engineering departments to support current programs and identify new business opportunities.
Candidates may come from automotive, aerospace, industrial, agricultural, or similar industries
, as long as they possess bearing design or application experience
.
- Customer & Technical Support
- Interface directly with customers to clarify technical application requirements
- Provide technical assistance, troubleshooting, and training
- Recommend appropriate bearing designs based on engineering calculations, testing, and analysis
- Support PPAP/sample activities, drawing reviews, and inspections
- Investigate bearing failures and field returns
- Identify new project and product opportunities
- Serve as project leader for assigned customer accounts
- Manage project schedules, testing, approvals, and launch timelines
- Coordinate with internal teams including:
- Product Engineering
- Manufacturing
- Quality
- Purchasing
- Maintain documentation including:
- Customer drawings
- Specifications
- Approval documentation
- Technical files and project records
- Provide bearing selection and application recommendations
- Perform engineering calculations such as:
- Bearing fit and clearance
- Bearing life calculations
- Develop Design Validation Plans (DVP)
- Conduct bearing failure analysis
- Perform measurements, inspections, and technical evaluations
- Prepare written technical reports including:
- Calculation summaries
- Failure analysis reports
- Testing results
- Quality investigation responses
- Participate in customer audits of manufacturing plants
- Provide technical support for manufacturing operations
- Respond to customer quality issues
- Review and edit quality reports (8D, 5 Why analysis, etc.)
- Support countermeasure development and implementation
- Collaborate with R&D teams for technical requests
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 2 – 25 years of experience in engineering roles
- Experience working with bearings (design, application, testing, or analysis)
- Strong knowledge of bearing failure modes and performance
- Ability to perform engineering calculations and technical analysis
- Experience interacting with customers and cross-functional teams
Preferred
- Experience with bearing manufacturing or supplier environments
- Knowledge of PPAP, DVP&R, and quality tools (8D, 5 Why)
- Experience in industries such as:
- Automotive
- Aerospace
- Industrial Equipment
- Agricultural Machinery
