Job Overview
AVL Mobility Technologies, Inc. (MTI) is a leading engineering consultancy that develops solutions for combustion engines, transmissions, hybrid technology, fuel cells, batteries, ADAS/AD, data intelligence, and embedded systems for a wide range of vehicles. MTI is looking for a motivated engineer to join our Calibration team, focused on internal combustion engine emissions and OBD calibration.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis. The employer will not sponsor work visas for this position.
Responsibilities- Define, plan, and perform engine, powertrain calibration and other relevant engineering project work within the project team as required.
- Plan and manage engineering resources according to project requirements.
- Work on specific phases or aspects of projects such as technical studies, preparation of specifications, technical plans, engine testing, vehicle testing, data analysis, and validation.
- Support data quality and write technical project reports.
- Review projects for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer requirements.
- Coordinate activities related to technical development, scheduling, and resolving engineering test issues.
- Define, execute, and support research and development activities.
- Participate in customer meetings.
- Communicate test results, progress, and issues to the project team and customer.
- Participate in powertrain calibration development trips as required.
- Other duties as required to ensure project success.
Profile description:
- 0–3+ years’ experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
- Master’s degree in Engineering preferred.
- Experience and exposure to automaker practices is beneficial.
A Project Engineer is expected to have demonstrated abilities in the following areas:
- Technical
- Thorough understanding of internal combustion engines and powertrain-related vehicle systems functionality.
- Basic understanding of IC engine emissions control components, after treatment systems, and their functionality.
- OBD calibration to meet automotive tailpipe emissions standards.
- Monitoring of CCM, catalyst, misfire, EGR, AFRIM, HEGO, etc.
- OBD self‑cert documentation, statistics, and reporting (green, 4 km, full useful life, OBD limit components; WPA and BPU; IUMPR).
- Powertrain calibration optimization for fuel economy and emissions objectives.
- Vehicle development trip support for hot weather, cold weather, and high altitude.
- Proficiency with Etas INCA, ATI Vision, Vector CANape/CANalyzer, interpretation of C code, and Microsoft Office (required).

- Visual requirement: sufficient sight to read PC screens.
- Hearing requirement: able to hold conversation with colleagues.
