Application Engineer II
AVL Test Systems Inc. is looking for an Application Engineer II to join the Plymouth, Michigan team. This role supports AVL’s testbed commissioning for engine, powertrain, emissions, battery, inverter, eMotor, and eAxle testing.
Key Responsibilities- Act as liaison and company representative with customers.
- Commission test systems, including: set up and troubleshoot test and measurement systems; implement and tune complex control loops; integrate auxiliary equipment into test systems; set up monitoring and control of relevant safeties; create commissioning documentation; provide training on system applications; obtain customer sign‑off; write and implement complex custom tests; provide sales technical support; provide project engineering technical support; help desk consultation;
develop and present advanced training; conduct technical research. (Travel required)
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent.
- Master’s degree in engineering or equivalent preferred.
- 3–5+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience in test automation equipment preferred.
- In‑depth understanding of electrical and mechanical processes.
- Expertise related to testing methods and applications.
- Able to read and understand electrical and mechanical schematics and drawings.
- Strong software adaptation and modification skills preferred.
- Background in testing (engine, emissions, battery, eMotor, eAxle).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient with PC operations, MS Windows, and computer networking.
Location:
Southeast Michigan area (Plymouth).
Travel required:
Approximately 40%.
