We are looking for a talented Software Engineer, II
who is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting computer-based data acquisition and control systems for precision test equipment, also the inter-networked control of such equipment. The Software Controls Engineer is involved in all phases of product life cycle, from Customer specifications and reviews to implementation and testing to training.
- Work with our internal software development toolset and environment and use it in combination with other tools and languages to achieve equipment control system design goals.
- Meet project timing, developing, and documenting robust code, and efficiently using the most appropriate software tools for the task.
- Software development using multiple environments; C, Delphi, Visual Studio .NET to contribute to the development of our next generation control system.
- Utilize Angular, Bootstrap, and internal tooling to build application-specific user interfaces.
- Learn, understand, and build intuitive user experiences around a custom WebAPI.
- Review technical specifications for conformance and exceptions.
- Work with the engineering team and customers to develop practical controls concepts in the absence of detailed equipment or testing specifications.
- Participate in code reviews and adhere to the build and deploy strategy for assigned software development projects, using the designated version control system and code repository.
- Ensure project milestone features and timing obligations are met.
- Proactively communicate obstacles and new timing projections to supervisor.
- Offer creative and suitable solutions to design challenges or flaws.
- Define test plans and perform validation testing to confirm system and functional requirements are met.
- Work with our test laboratories to enhance the capabilities of LINK Test Equipment and support the latest industry procedures and standards, as well as new R&D opportunities.
- Assist LINK Service Technicians and customers with technical issues.
- Ensure work is performed in a safe manner using all available safety equipment.
- All other related duties as assigned.
- Possess mental faculties consistent with performing the minimum requirements of the job.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience
- Experience in Computer Engineering or Robotics preferred.
- Proven experience with embedded systems or software-based controls to control electro-mechanical systems.
- Previous experience, with RTOS, FPGA, .NET 6 and Linux preferred.
- Understanding of hardware and software designs.
- Familiarity with CAN and Ethernet communication protocols.
- Solid understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and undergraduate level physics.
- Able to read and understand electrical control diagrams.
- Understanding and implementing network communications between subsystems.
- Analysis of test data to determine proper test function or determining possible reasons for malfunction.
