Objective
The Cost Analyst position supports company teams by analyzing cost and revenue data to provide timely & reliable financial information that is meaningful to business units and the organization. The Cost Analyst must be a flexible and adaptable team player, as well as have strong communication and client service skills.
PrincipalDuties & Responsibilities
- Standard cost calculation (before and after business award), price review and negotiation with internal teams
- Production cost variance analysis and monitoring of KPI items
- Support analysis of COGS section of financial statements
- Calculate changes to product costs based on new drawings and engineering change instructions (ECI)
- Summarize results of mass production Kaizen activities
- Participate in budget preparations, focusing on Material/Freight/Scrap/Direct Labor portions
- Visit each plant (OH/KY/AL) on occasion to discuss budget planning with material teams and/or plant manager
- Set up cost information in QAD when new products have launched
- Continuously verify bill of material (BOM) information for accuracy, investigate errors when they occur
- Update all standard and current costs in QAD once a year
- Supporting activities to other accounting team functions in General Ledger, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
- Proactive in using AI capabilities to assist in role and automating processes
- Perform additional related duties as assigned
- 1 year of experience with costing, preferably with an automotive parts company
- General knowledge of financial statements
- Experience using QAD preferred
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred*, or near graduation
- Ability to effectively communicate with all members of the team.
- Effective time management, organization skills, and attention to detail. Ability to multi-task, prioritize activities and work under pressure.
- Results-oriented, ability to take initiative and make decisions
- Experience in the manufacturing industry, including automotive-related manufacturing preferred
- Japanese language skills are not required, but familiarity with Japanese business culture or language is a plus
