SURGICAL REPROCESSING TECHNICIAN

• Under general supervision of the Coordinator/Manager/Director, cleans, inspects, assembles, packages, disinfects and sterilizes all surgical products used to support physicians and the surgical team in inpatient, outpatient departments, operating rooms, emergency rooms, delivery rooms and satellite facilities.
• Documents and monitors all sterilization processes in assigned areas, including steam, ETOH, Sterrad and high‑level disinfectants, ensuring all monitoring methods comply with standards.
• Supplies the needs of various departments by properly meeting and anticipating instrumentation needs for pending cases and assembling procedure‑specific case carts.
• Receives, unpacks, shelves supplies and stock while maintaining appropriate par levels with sterile supply management principles.
• Works with surgical specialty teams to ensure supplies for each patient are available when needed.
• Proactively coordinates preparation of the case cart according to the surgeon's preference card for supplies, equipment, instruments and implants needed for each patient.

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Completion of a medical terminology course is preferred.
• Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients and hospital personnel.
• Computer skills.
• Completion of the 120‑day orientation:
  • Successfully completes department and hospital orientation process.
  • Maintains competence during the evaluation year, including department standards, objectives, in‑service and continuing education.
