Position Summary

The Staff Pharmacist is primarily responsible for ensuring that the medications prescribed are safe and accurate for patients, that the supply is within the law, and that patients are advised about their medications. This position provides oversight of the activities performed by technicians. Preferred shift availability is 11:30 AM - 8:00 PM EST.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Review, interpret and verify the accuracy of prescribed medications and labeling based on prescriber orders.
  • Conduct patient consultation on prescribed medication usage; provide instructions on how and when to take their medications and inform them of any potential side effects.
  • Communicate and collaborate with prescribers to ensure medications are dispensed correctly and provide the appropriate drug therapy treatment.
  • Verify the accuracy of prescriptions in the pharmacy management system.
  • Perform Drug Utilization Review to ensure the appropriate use of medications and complete a final check on the production floor of all prescriptions to verify accuracy.
  • Perform clinical consultations with patients to assist them with the management of their drug therapy.
  • Proactively review drug interactions, allergies, incorrect doses, and risks related to polypharmacy.
  • Perform transfers of prescriptions in accordance with federal and state laws.
  • Ensure safe medication use, monitor patient history, and stay updated on advancements in medicine.
  • Follow laws and regulations set by federal and state legislatures and state pharmacy boards during dispensing of prescriptions, ensuring safe use and delivery to patients.
  • Provide oversight to inventory team to ensure correct amount of medication is on hand to meet patient demands.
  • Assume all Pharmacist on Duty responsibilities in the absence of the Pharmacist in Charge.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledgeable individual with appropriate industry experience, preferably in the healthcare or mail order/specialty pharmacy industry.
  • Intelligent and articulate individual who can relate to patients and possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to exercise considerable judgment, maintain confidentiality, and act in a diplomatic manner.
  • Ability to independently identify, research, and resolve issues.
  • Ability to mentor technicians and work with peers in a team effort.
  • Sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Well‑organized and self‑directed individual who can work with minimal supervision.
  • Capability to efficiently complete tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays in alignment with departmental and industry demands.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from an Accredited College of Pharmacy (ACPE) or Pharm

    D.
  • Active Pharmacist license in good standing with applicable State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and industry‑related software programs.
Preferred Skill & Abilities
  • Experience or knowledge of compliance, regulatory and accreditation rules, regulations and standards.
  • Prior experience in Retail, Mail Order or Specialty Pharmacy, PBM, pharmaceutical or managed health care industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of contemporary pharmacy practice and service.
Work Environment &

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time; ability to lift, pull, push containers up to 15 pounds and manipulate equipment requiring strength, gross motor and fine motor coordination.
  • Work includes a home‑based environment with occasional rotation to the site (production/warehouse) and exposure to noise and machinery.
  • Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and kneel.
  • Ability to utilize visual acuity to operate equipment and read technical information.
