Position Summary

Under the general direction of the IT Administrator, the Part-Time IT Support Assistant provides frontline technical support for the Court's information technology environment.

The position assists Court employees with routine hardware, software, application, peripheral, and connectivity issues; assists with workstation and equipment deployment and maintenance; maintains technology inventories and documentation; and supports routine IT projects and system administration activities.

This position requires technical aptitude, attention to detail, sound judgment, professionalism, confidentiality, and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical users. Because the position operates within a court environment, the employee is expected to appropriately safeguard confidential, sensitive, security-related, and nonpublic information encountered in the course of employment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are representative of the general nature and level of work performed by this classification. They are not intended to constitute an exhaustive list of all duties. Other reasonably related duties may be assigned based upon Court operational needs.

  • Provide frontline technical support to Court employees for routine hardware, software, application, peripheral, printing, and connectivity issues.
  • Troubleshoot routine technology problems, identify appropriate solutions, and elevate issues to the IT Administrator or appropriate vendor when necessary.
  • Assist authorized users with system access, account setup, password resets, application access, and similar user-support functions in accordance with established security procedures.
  • Configure, image, deploy, replace, and maintain desktop and laptop computers, monitors, printers, scanners, and related technology equipment.
  • Assist with approved software installations, updates, patching, equipment replacements, and routine system maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate technology records, including hardware and software inventories, equipment assignments, user accounts, service requests, and support activities.
  • Assist with technology inventory management, equipment tracking, replacement planning, and authorized equipment disposal.
  • Coordinate with the IT Administrator and approved vendors regarding equipment purchases, repairs, installations, and service requests.
  • Provide basic technical support for Court-approved business applications and court-specific systems following appropriate training.
  • Assist with technology upgrades, equipment deployments, cybersecurity initiatives, system changes, and other IT-related projects.
  • Follow Court policies and procedures regarding cybersecurity, information security, confidentiality, records management, system access, and acceptable technology use.
  • Promptly report suspected cybersecurity incidents, unauthorized access, equipment loss, system abnormalities, or other technology-security concerns to the IT Administrator.
  • Maintain professional and courteous working relationships with judicial officers, Court employees, vendors, governmental partners, and members of the public.
  • Participate in job-related training and continuing education as assigned.
  • Minimum Qualifications

    Applicants must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position. Qualifications may be demonstrated through education, training, relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination thereof.

    Education and Experience
    • Associate degree in information technology, computer science, cybersecurity, information systems, or a closely related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of relevant education, technical training, certifications, and experience.
    • CompTIA A+ or CompTIA Network+ certification.
    • Previous experience providing computer, help-desk, desktop-support, or comparable technical assistance preferred.
    • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365 applications.
    • Familiarity with computer hardware, printers, peripherals, basic networking concepts, and common troubleshooting practices.
    • Experience in a court, governmental, legal, public-sector, or similarly regulated environment is desirable but not required.

    The position requires the ability to:

    • Learn Court-specific applications, systems, terminology, and technology workflows.
    • Follow written and verbal technical instructions, procedures, policies, and security requirements.
    • Troubleshoot routine technical problems in a logical and methodical manner.
    • Accurately organize, document, and maintain technology records and inventories.
    • Maintain the confidentiality and security of nonpublic, sensitive, personally identifiable, personnel, criminal-justice, and Court information.
