Logistics Supervisor
The Logistics Supervisor oversees outbound logistics, inventory management, customer delivery requirements, and daily logistics operations that support automotive manufacturing activities. This desk-based leadership role focuses heavily on reporting, data analysis, customer interaction, inventory control, and continuous improvement. The Logistics Supervisor leads a team of Logistics Specialists and partners closely with the Logistics Manager to ensure operational excellence, process compliance, and high levels of customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities- Direct and supervise daily logistics operations and provide hands-on leadership to a team of Logistics Specialists.
- Manage customer orders, monitor inventory flow, and oversee shipping operations and material movement to support automotive manufacturing.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize logistics reports, spreadsheets, and tracking tools using advanced Excel capabilities.
- Analyze logistics and inventory data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for process and cost improvements.
- Coordinate closely with customers, suppliers, production teams, and third-party logistics (3PL) providers to ensure on-time and accurate deliveries.
- Lead inventory audits and cycle counts to maintain high levels of inventory accuracy and control.
- Support and drive cost reduction initiatives related to shipping, transportation, and inventory management.
- Handle customer delivery issues, claims, and corrective actions, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication.
- Assist with the preparation of reports and presentations for leadership, providing clear insights and recommendations.
- Manage employee performance by providing coaching, feedback, and training to support the development and effectiveness of the logistics team.
- Ensure adherence to established logistics processes, policies, and standards while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Minimum 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience managing employees.
- Minimum 3+ years of automotive industry experience (preferred).
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, spreadsheets, basic formulas, data analysis, and reporting dashboards.
- Proven experience leading logistics, supply chain, transportation, inventory, or material control operations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and act on complex data.
- Hands-on experience working with ERP systems in a logistics, supply chain, or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams, both verbally and in writing.
- Strong sense of urgency and attention to detail in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Experience managing employee performance, training, and day-to-day operational activities.
This is a Permanent position based out of Plymouth, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $80000.00/yr. Full benefits, hybrid work schedule, med, vision, and dental.
