Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) - Plymouth, MI
Intertek, a nationally recognized testing laboratory (NRTL) and a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is actively seeking a Certified Welding Inspector to join its Professional Services Industries Inc. (Intertek-PSI) team in Plymouth, MI. This role offers an opportunity to grow a versatile career in the architectural, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) industry.
What You’ll Do- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and regulations.
- Test and inspect structural steel during erection on general building and pipeline sites, and occasionally on plant sites.
- Inspect general construction and structural steel erection for buildings.
- Perform visual inspections on welded products in progress and completed jobs.
- Inspect welding jobs for defects such as cracks, porosity, undercut, etc.
- Record results of tests and welding inspections.
- Create and follow up on non-conformances until close-out.
- Plan and conduct analysis, inspection, test, and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned product or component.
- Review all welded products or components and provide input on acceptance or rejection decisions.
- Document data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with company policies and procedures.
- Communicate significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and recommend process improvements to management.
- Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications.
- Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
- Operate testing equipment and conduct testing (e.g., soil, concrete) and provide assessment of data through reporting.
- Operate a calculator to calculate mathematical test results.
- Adhere to safety practices and policies to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent.
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification with D1.1 experience.
- Minimum of four years of relevant experience.
- Ability to read blueprints, understand, and interpret tolerances.
- Computer skills:
Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office. - Ability to receive, understand, and execute written and verbal instructions.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well independently and with others.
- Capability to work off-shifts and overtime as required.
- Ability to test concrete and compaction.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.
- Technical degree in welding.
- Experience in construction materials testing.
