Duties:

  • Familiarity with hands-on tools and standard laboratory testing equipment.
  • Perform routine testing (hands-on operations) and sample preparation.
  • Responsible for overall performance of assigned laboratory tests or projects including but not limited to timelines, quantity, and quality of generated data.
  • Responsible for generation of appropriate chemical or physical properties reports that meet customer needs and/or test specifications.
  • Adhere to company policies and internal operating procedures from the ISO 17025 quality system during the measurement/testing process.
  • Ability to work within fast paced laboratory environment.
  • Ability to adhere to strict safety protocols.
  • Ability to take ownership of all duties related to Test Lab Operations.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Ensure work is performed in a safe manner using all available safety equipment.
  • Job Skills & Knowledge

    • Associate’s degree of applied Science, Chemical Technology or a related field preferred.
    • High School Diploma.
    • Minimum of one year of work experience in environmental, corrosion, chemical or material science laboratory, including the following:
    • Prior experience in accredited test laboratory ISO 17025, NVLAP, A2LA, NADCAP.
    • Prior experience with Polarized Light Microscope (PLM).
    • Prior experience with Accelerated Weathering testing (UV Exposure, Xenon Arc).
    • Prior experience with testing of Coatings, Paints, Surface Finishes.
    • Prior experience with sample preparation techniques and ICP-OES.
    • Demonstrated experience as being highly motivated and self-directed.
    • Proficient with applications and computer-based file structures.
    • Strong Microsoft Office skills.

    Additional Requirements:

    • Ability to walk.
    • Ability to speak verbally and read in English.
    • Ability to see with corrective lenses.
    • Ability to hear.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
    • Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, reach, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity.
    • Ability to use a computer.
