University of Michigan’s Flint Police Officer
The University of Michigan-Flint (UM-Flint) campus is seeking a Police Officer position. For this position, you will provide for public safety by maintaining order, responding to emergencies, protecting people and property, promoting good community relations and patrolling assigned areas to prevent crime, enforcing laws, ordinances, and traffic regulations, controlling crowds, and arresting violators. You may also perform specialized police activities, such as criminal investigations, interviewing witnesses, crime victims, and suspects.

The University of Michigan Division of Public Safety and Security, Flint Campus Department of Public Safety (UM-Flint DPS) is a full-service, 24-hour public safety department that works to ensure a safe and secure environment for the Flint campus community and surrounding area. Our officers and staff are highly trained professionals equipped to serve all members of our community. Work schedules may include nights, weekends, afternoons, holidays, and occasional unanticipated overtime.
This is a uniform position.
We manage all law enforcement and security operations on the Flint campus and offer an integrated and collaborative approach to safety and security. Partnering across the University, we provide a safe community while improving the quality of life for all those living, learning, working, and visiting.

Who University of Michigan Public Safety and Security IsThe Division of Public Safety and Security (DPSS) leads all public safety functions within the university, including police, security, and emergency management, and offers an integrated approach to safety and security, operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. DPSS combines Ann Arbor, Dearborn, and Flint operations to provide students, visitors, faculty, and staff with a safe and secure environment.
Through our partnerships across the university and local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, we use a blended service model to meet the needs of our community and exceed expectations.

Benefits and salaryThe starting salary for new probationary Police Officers ranges from $57,512.00 to $58,662.24
. The full salary range for Police Officers who have completed a one-year probationary period is $61,380.80 – $87,672.00 and can be found in the POAM bargaining agreement.

ResponsibilitiesYou will be expected to:
