Maintenance Technician
Reporting to the Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in maintaining and repairing tube mill production equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This position focuses on maximizing equipment quality, uptime, production rates, and yield through effective electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement efforts. The ideal candidate possesses strong electrical aptitude, hands-on maintenance experience, and a commitment to workplace safety.
What You'll Do
- Performs electrical maintenance and repairs on production equipment while following all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
- Ensures machine guards and safety systems are functional before returning equipment to operation.
- Monitors inventory of maintenance parts, equipment, and supplies; assists with ordering and receiving materials as needed.
- Utilizes computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and manual processes to track, inspect, and report equipment status.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, manuals, and technical drawings to diagnose equipment issues.
- Troubleshoots and repairs electrical, mechanical, and quality-related equipment problems.
- Performs breakdown repairs, preventive maintenance, and equipment changeovers.
- Identifies and communicates safety, quality, operational, and production concerns to supervisors when necessary.
- Observes equipment performance and uses precision measuring instruments to diagnose issues and verify repairs.
- Fabricates repair parts using machine shop tools and equipment.
- Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Operates powered industrial trucks, overhead cranes, and portable cranes as required.
- Supports continuous improvement initiatives and equipment reliability programs.
- Complies with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and established operating procedures.
- Promotes a positive safety culture and supports site-wide health and safety initiatives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Who You Are
- Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in a heavy manufacturing environment preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Apprenticeship, journeyman training, military service, or equivalent mechanical/electrical training preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of electrical systems and PLCs.
- Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong verbal communication skills and basic math proficiency.
- Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Ability to pass job-related assessments, a pre-employment physical, and a drug screening.
