We are seeking enthusiastic instructors with swim lesson or coaching experience and a strong swimming background—whether through lifeguarding, competitive swimming, lifelong participation, coaching, or other formal training. At Specialty Aquatic Programs, our mission is to make the water accessible, inclusive, and empowering for individuals of all abilities. We serve swimmers who are often overlooked in traditional programs, and every instructor plays a meaningful role in helping children and adults build confidence, safety, and joy in the water.
Applicants must be high‑school graduates and able to obtain Lifeguard Certification and Starfish Aquatics Certification within 60 days of hire; adaptive swim experience and be eligible to complete Swim Angelfish Certification.
This role requires comfort working in the water for up to four hours, the ability to swim 25 yards without stopping, and the ability to lift more than 20 lbs. Strong communication, organization, customer service, and problem‑solving skills are essential, along with a genuine enjoyment of working with children and adults.
Responsibilities include conducting swim evaluations, developing individualized and group lesson plans, teaching private and group lessons with documented progress, maintaining a safe and organized pool environment, communicating with families, supporting staff, completing progress notes and program tracking, and customer service needs.
We especially welcome applicants from allied health fields—such as Recreational Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Special Education—who bring expertise in task adaptation and working with special populations. Rate of pay starts at $25 up to $45 an hour depending on certifications, education and licences.
