Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager or Tax Supervisor to join our growing public accounting practice. This position is ideal for a tax professional who enjoys building client relationships, mentoring staff, and managing a diverse portfolio of tax engagements while maintaining a healthy work‑life balance.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a regional or local public accounting firm environment and be looking for a collaborative culture where leadership is accessible, professional growth is encouraged, and quality client service remains the priority.

This role is driven by immediate client demand and ongoing growth within the firm. There is also an opportunity for exposure to commercial audit and attest services for candidates interested in broadening their experience.

Key Responsibilities Tax Compliance & Review
  • Prepare, review, and oversee a variety of tax engagements, including:
  • S-Corporations
  • C-Corporations
  • Partnerships
  • Estates and Trusts
  • Individual tax returns
  • Review complex tax returns for accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage multi-state tax filings and reporting requirements for business clients.
  • Research tax issues and provide practical solutions and guidance to clients.
  • Ensure timely completion of engagements while maintaining quality standards.
Client Relationship Management
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients.
  • Manage client communications, including meetings, calls, and email correspondence.
  • Build and maintain long‑term client relationships through proactive service and responsiveness.
  • Coordinate deadlines, deliverables, and expectations across multiple engagements.
  • Identify opportunities to expand services and provide additional value to clients.
Leadership & Staff Development
  • Supervise, train, and mentor staff accountants and early‑career tax professionals.
  • Review staff work and provide constructive feedback to support professional development.
  • Bridge the gap between staff and partner‑level expectations by helping team members understand tax processes, workflow management, and client service standards.
  • Assist with workload planning and engagement staffing.
Cross-Functional Opportunities
  • Support audit and attest engagements based on business needs and personal interest.
  • Collaborate with firm leadership on special projects, consulting engagements, and strategic initiatives.
  • Provide tax leadership support as partners expand into advisory and consulting services.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 3–10+ years of public accounting tax experience.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing business and individual tax returns.
  • Knowledge of multi‑state taxation and compliance requirements.
  • Strong client service and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA license preferred.
  • Experience in a regional or local public accounting firm environment.
  • Familiarity with:
  • CCH Tax Software
  • Access Tax
  • Document Management Systems
  • Experience supervising and mentoring staff.
  • Exposure to audit or attest services.

  • Has approximately 8–10 years of tax experience, although strong candidates with 3–8 years of experience will be considered.
