Who We Are
CarlsonSV – big firm strength. Small firm feel.
We're a growing public accounting firm who cares deeply about our clients, our people and doing the right thing. Strong work ethic, genuine care, integrity and excellence aren't just words on a wall - they're the standards we hold ourselves to every single day.
We're large enough to offer a diverse client base and meaningful opportunities, but small enough that people know each other, ideas can actually make their way to leadership, and the work you do matters.
Why This Role Is CriticalThis is an opportunity for an experienced Audit Leader to help us build our next chapter.
We are a growing public accounting firm with multiple offices throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin and a well-established governmental audit practice serving cities, schools, townships, and other governmental entities.
This isn't simply an opportunity to manage audit engagements. We're looking for someone who wants to build relationships, develop people, solve problems and have a meaningful voice in the continued growth of our practice.
Our governmental services group is at an exciting point in its growth. We have strong client relationships, experienced leadership and a solid foundation. As the practice continues to evolve, we're looking for an ambitious professional who wants to be part of that next chapter - someone who brings energy, sound judgment and a vision for what a great governmental audit team can become.
WhatYou'll Do
As an Audit Manager, you'll take a leading role in serving our governmental clients while working closely with partners and other members of the governmental services team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead governmental audit engagements from planning through completion.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for clients.
- Review audit work papers and financial statements and provide guidance to engagement teams.
- Apply strong technical knowledge of governmental accounting and auditing standards.
- Communicate audit findings and recommendations clearly to clients, governing boards and management.
- Develop strong, long-term relationships with clients and become a resource they can rely on beyond the annual audit.
- Mentor, coach and develop staff and senior-level team members.
- Contribute to recruiting and developing the next generation of governmental auditors.
- Work with firm leadership to identify opportunities to improve processes, client service and team development.
We're looking for more than someone who can complete an audit checklist. We're looking for a leader and advisor.
What Makes You a Great FitYou may be the ideal candidate if you:
- Have an active CPA license or are a CPA candidate with strong governmental audit experience including single audits.
- Are an experienced auditor who understands the bigger picture behind the numbers.
- Are a confident communicator who can work effectively with clients, governing boards and internal teams.
- Someone who takes ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do.
- Curious, analytical and intentional in your approach to solving problems.
- A natural mentor who enjoys helping others grow.
- Comfortable working in a collaborative environment where things continue to evolve.
- Interested in contributing ideas and helping shape how our governmental practice grows.
- Are willing to travel to clients and build strong client relationships, delivering more than simply the required audit.
We're building for the future. That means we're looking for someone who…
