Tru North Tax is growing, and we are looking for an experienced Senior Tax Advisor who wants more than seasonal return production. This is an opportunity to build trusted, long-term relationships with individuals and business owners; deliver clear, practical tax advice; and help clients make better decisions throughout the year.

The opportunityAs a Senior Tax Advisor, you will manage a recurring portfolio of individual and business tax clients. You will lead client conversations; coordinate with advisors and internal staff; and identify tax-planning opportunities that create real value.
This is a hands-on senior individual-contributor position. You will have meaningful client responsibility and a voice in improving processes.
What you will do- Complete federal and state tax returns for individuals and businesses.
- Manage a recurring client portfolio with strong organization, timely follow-through, and high-quality service.
- Lead client conversations from initial document collection through return delivery, including missing-information follow-up, estimated-tax discussions, balance-due conversations, and proactive planning.
- Work with individual clients, business owners, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, trusts, estates, and multi-state issues as applicable to your experience and client portfolio.
- Identify and communicate planning opportunities involving estimated payments, retirement contributions, business deductions, entity structure, owner compensation, fringe benefits, charitable giving, and other appropriate strategies.
- Work collaboratively with financial advisors, bookkeepers, payroll providers, attorneys, tax preparers, administrative staff, and firm leadership.
- Maintain clear client notes, workflow status, supporting documentation, and next steps in the firm’s systems.
- Research technical issues, document conclusions, and use sound judgment about when to escal
- Help improve the client experience, workflow, documentation, and tax-planning process as the firm continues to grow.
- Share knowledge and support teammates when appropriate, without formal people-management responsibilities.
- At least three years of recent experience as a signing tax-return preparer , with primary responsibility for return accuracy.
- Active PTIN and eligibility to sign returns as a paid preparer.
- Experience independently preparing and reviewing federal and state individual income-tax returns.
- Experience with business tax work, including Schedule C businesses and one or more of partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, trusts, estates, or related state filings.
- Experience communicating directly with clients about tax results, missing information, estimated taxes, balances due, deadlines, and next steps.
- Strong judgment, attention to detail, organization, client-service skills, and follow-through.
- Active Enrolled Agent (EA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential.
- Experience with business-owner planning, year-round advisory work, owner 1040s, retirement planning, charitable planning, entity structure, and estimated-tax strategy.
