Position Description

We are inviting professional and positive individuals to join the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office as an Administrative Intern. The Associate Administrative Assistant will possess beginning to working knowledge of subject matter, handle basic issues and problems associated with department administration and clerical support, and refer more complex issues to higher-level staff.

This is a temporary, non-exempt position.

Actual work hours will vary, but will be during general business hours of Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain office supply levels by monitoring and replenishing paper and related materials as needed.
  • Perform document scanning and ensure files are organized and stored appropriately.
  • Organize and alphabetize civil paperwork to support efficient record management.
  • Assist with the CID case Criminal Investigations Division naming project by accurately labeling and categorizing case files for Sheriff’s office.
  • Provide general administrative support, including data entry, sorting and filing documents, and other clerical tasks as assigned.
  • Support various divisions by completing routine, entry‑level office tasks suitable for an intern.
  • Assist with project teams, by helping organize information, track progress, and complete assigned tasks.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Must be 16 years of age or older by date of hire.
  • Successfully pass an extensive background investigation.
  • Current high school student.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • This is a temporary, non-exempt position.
Physical Demands and Work Conditions
  • Standard office environment.
  • Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to see colors, shades, and brightness.
  • Hearing abilities required for general and phone communication, signals, and machine sounds.
  • Assignments are sedentary, occasionally alternating between sitting, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling as required to perform job responsibilities.
  • Frequent wrist and finger manipulation to complete computer work.
  • Occasional lifting of 10-20 lbs.
  • Equipment used includes computers, phones, and standard office equipment.
  • Occasional travel to other county work sites as needed; travel may require driving a county vehicle and/or a personal vehicle.

  • No tattoos, scars or brands that qualify as "Unauthorized Tattoos" under the Sheriff's Office Policy 1044.3 are allowed under any circumstances by any member of the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office.
  • Tattoos on the head, face, neck, or hands are prohibited. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis. (Complete policy available upon request).
