Position Summary
The Concrete Worker is responsible for all phases of concrete construction associated with electrical substations and related civil infrastructure projects. Responsibilities include site preparation, grade verification, formwork installation, reinforcement placement, concrete placement, finishing, curing, and cleanup. This position regularly travels to project locations and works closely with the crew to deliver high-quality concrete foundations, equipment pads, and flatwork that meet customer specifications and company quality standards.
Experienced Apprentices and Journeymen are encouraged to apply.
This is a traveling position across the United States.
This position reports to the Superintendent.
EssentialJob Duties And Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other responsibilities as necessary.
- Assist with establishing grades and elevations using string lines, grade stakes, lasers, and surveying equipment.
- Verify dimensions, elevations, slopes, and form alignment prior to concrete placement.
- Install anchor bolt templates, embeds, conduit stub-ups, sleeves, and other owner-required components before pours.
- Place, tie, and secure reinforcing steel, welded wire fabric, dowels, and other reinforcement materials.
- Prepare subgrades, compact base materials, and assist with site grading to ensure proper concrete installation.
- Perform pre-pour inspections to verify formwork, reinforcement, embeds, and elevations meet project requirements.
- Safely strip and remove forms, backfill around completed structures, and clean work areas following concrete placement.
- Maintain and organize forms, hand tools, power tools, and finishing equipment to support efficient project execution.
- Experience constructing and setting forms for slabs, pads, foundations, curbs, and sidewalks.
- Ability to read construction plans, elevations, and layout drawings.
- Experience working around utility, industrial, or energy construction projects preferred.
- Familiarity with anchor bolt placement, embedded materials, and concrete tolerances preferred.
- Ability to travel to jobsites within the US.
This role involves hands-on work at active construction sites, primarily outdoors and exposed to a variety of weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and wind. You will operate in environments with uneven terrain, heavy equipment, and ongoing construction activity. The position requires physical stamina, awareness of surroundings, and the ability to follow safety procedures at all times. Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.
You should be comfortable performing physically demanding tasks, adapting to changing site conditions, and communicating clearly with crew members and supervisors. Flexibility and a strong commitment to safety are essential.
