Commercial Construction Estimator - Carpentry and General Contractor

Job Description

We are looking for a mid-level estimator with 3-5 years of estimating experience to lead our estimating department.

This is a full-time, in-office position with an established general contracting and commercial carpentry company.

Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents to develop accurate estimates for general contracting and commercial carpentry projects.

Prepare detailed plan takeoffs, scopes of work, and bid summaries using estimating software and internal estimating tools.

Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, project managers, and leadership to collect pricing, clarify scope, and support competitive bids.

Evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with project requirements.

Lead and manage the estimating department, including prioritizing bid opportunities, maintaining deadlines, and supporting continuous improvement of estimating processes.

Maintain organized bid files, estimate documentation, and project cost information for future reference and turnover to project teams.

3–5 years of general contracting and commercial carpentry construction estimating experience required.

Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, drawings, and bid documents.

Demonstrated experience preparing accurate plan takeoffs and detailed cost estimates.

Knowledgeable in subcontractor and vendor coordination, including bid solicitation, scope review, and pricing follow-up.

Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Bluebeam Studio. Experience with HCSS and Building Connected is preferred, but willing to train.

Preferred experience with general contracting, federal government, and commercial construction bidding processes.

Familiarity with CSI divisions and construction cost categories preferred.
