Overview
Perform a variety of tasks associated with coordination and execution of civil engineering design, permitting and construction administration, under the supervision of senior engineering staff. This includes field work and office work, with primary duties in construction oversight and documentation, analysis and design (including CAD drafting and seepage/stability modeling) for earthwork projects often involving embankments and excavations, and preparation of written reports and technical calculations.
Additional duties may include sampling of environmental media (soil, water, air), construction staking using GPS survey equipment, and corresponding with clients, contractors, vendors, among others.
The position is based out of our Plymouth, MN office. During field projects, extensive time out of the office and may require out of town travel, long days, and/or weekend work as dictated by the construction site location and schedule. Project sites may feature rough terrain, moving machinery, limited accessibility and other conditions typical of construction and/or industrial sites. Safety training will be provided.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree or higher in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering or related discipline.
- Familiarity with civil construction practices and experience working safely around heavy equipment.
- Detail-oriented and proficient in documentation and technical writing.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good time-management and ability to track hours for a variety of projects.
- Acceptable driving record, and able to drive a company vehicle as necessary.
- Ability to work outdoors and walk across uneven terrain, sometimes carrying equipment.
- 1-3 years experience in solid waste, mining, and/or industrial byproducts design and construction.
- Coursework or experience in embankment design and geotechnical modeling (slope stability, seepage, groundwater flow).
- Coursework or experience in geosynthetics engineering.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certified, or ability to obtain certification within one year.
- Experience with Geo Studio geotechnical modeling software.
The salary range is expected to be between $64,000 and $78,000 per year. Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience.
