DescriptionThe Bridge Engineer is responsible for planning and designing bridge projects of varying complexity for both Private and Public entities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Directs and/or designs plans, calculates and prepares engineering documents for bridge engineering projects, including details, equipment schedules and cost estimates for projects, including the selection and application of engineering systems and materials in accordance with the latest governing codes
- Prepares and monitors project budgets for complex projects and is responsible for project schedules and timely completion of these projects
- Leads the generation of bridge engineering reports, quantity estimates, details, and drafting
- Utilizes bridge design software and other engineering software packages for completion of projects
- Performs structural load calculations
- Stamps or seals work prepared by him/her or under his/her direct supervision
- Assign work and/or check design calculations, estimates, and specifications produced by others on the project team
- Assists in construction bids or negotiations, including pre-bid conferences, interpretations and post-bid evaluations and contract preparation
- Serves as a designated client contact, when indicated
- Participates in pre-project presentations, interviews, and pre‑construction meetings
- Oversees personnel assigned to projects in which they are the lead engineer
- Establishes and maintains cordial and professional working relations with clients and contractors and attends client meetings
- Travels as required for project meetings, client meetings, or to construction sites
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- 8+ years of experience in bridge design
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Ability to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) license in ND or MN within 6 months
- Experience using structural analysis programs and bridge design software
- Provenabilitytodevelopandproduceconstructionplansanddocumentsusing Auto Deskor Bentleydesignsoftware .
- Complete and thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of engineering
- Ability to prepare engineering records and to write concise technical reports
- Ability to work on several projects simultaneously, while meeting deadlines
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable

The pay range for this position is $77,000‑$127,000 (with flexibility DOQ). The range displayed on this job posting reflects salaries for the position based in our Minnesota locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by specific work location and additional factors, including education, experience, credentials, and job‑related skills. In addition to base pay, certain positions at Vistal and subsidiaries are eligible for participation in our incentive compensation programs.
